Hiking is an exhilarating experience, but it can leave your muscles feeling tight and sore, especially after a challenging hike like the Grand Canyon. In this blog post, I’m excited to share a 15-minute yoga routine designed specifically for hikers to stretch out those hardworking muscles—without a single downward dog! This routine focuses on easing the tension in your legs, back, shoulders, and glutes, all of which play a huge role in hiking.
Why This Routine?
After hiking, especially when carrying a heavy backpack, your body can feel the strain in multiple areas. I created this yoga routine for myself after hiking the Grand Canyon, and it’s been incredibly effective in stretching out all the areas that tend to get tight. Whether you’re hiking long distances or taking a shorter trek, this post-hike yoga sequence is the perfect way to wind down and give your body the care it deserves.
What You’ll Need
- Blocks: If you don’t have yoga blocks, a sturdy book or pillow will do.
- Bolster: You can substitute this with a blanket or pillow.
- Optional Blanket: If you’re chilly or want extra comfort under your knees.
